Summary
He and the puppy are on top of a gigantic cloud, and they run into a keyboardist, a drummer, and a guitarist. Their music is generating electricity that is going down through the center of the cloud. So he goes up and introduces himself (by his name – Kurow) and asks them to do him a solid – just stop playing their music for a little while, because the electricity they’re generating is blocking somewhere the two of them need to get. The musicians won’t comply, though, because a guy named Gen – who, incidentally, Kurow and the puppy are trying to help too – asked them to send him some electricity.

The guitarist tells Kurow that they won’t help if he doesn’t have the love for music, to which he boldly responds that he’s all about music. So they make him a deal – if he can prove he’s got a musician’s soul, they’ll help him out.

(Gameplay then segues into a Power Slash minigame, but according to this scene (the picture up in the back middle), what really happened is that Kurow played his flute, while Chibi played guitar. I’m going with the latter for the sake of this memory, but either way.)

After jamming with them for a while, a constellation appears in the sky, and the puppy calls forth from it the child of Gekigami, the tiger god of Thunder, who grants the puppy the ability Thunderbolt. The drummer notices, and tells the puppy to use that power to open a treasure chest, which contains a drum that will allow them to pass through electricity without being harmed. The musicians give it to them because, since the puppy could open the chest, they clearly deserve it.

So they receive a drum! This will definitely be of help when exploring the ruins down below. Also, the musicians offer to send them back to the ground “in style”.

What He Learns
☽ His name is Kurow!!! \o/
☽ He can, indeed, play the flute, and now remembers how! Music is super important to him.
☽ He and the puppy were helping some guy named Gen, who was presumably down in some ruins beneath this cloud. They needed to get past walls of lightning, which were there because Gen asked the musicians to summon it for him in the first place.
☽ Puppy learned how to summon lightning! From the god of Thunder’s kid! Maybe someone similar is where he learned to summon wind from?
☽ Apparently, this puppy is the Child of the Great Sun, and his mother fought alongside Gekigami. Just who is this puppy, anyway…?
☽ Puppy’s powers definitely involve drawing. Who has he met here who also has drawing powers? (Hint, she fixed his tooth.) So yeah, Sophie is definitely perking his interest now…

Notes
That music minigame can be a huuuuuuuuge pain sometimes. It’s so easy to run out of ink. The music is great though. It’s got elements of The Sun Rises, which was the theme of the final phase of the final boss fight back in Okami.

Also, despite now remembering that his true name is Kurow, he’ll probably stick with Caramel for now, because he’s gotten used to it, and he likes it, and it’s special because it was given to him by his team. (This is different from how Quince handled it, but then, Quince had the advice of ‘you’re you no matter what’ to work with. Caramel doesn’t.)
