Summary
Kurow and a scholarly lady are just putting the finishing touches on a grave for one Sugawara no Michizane when the puppy returns from elsewhere with a girl in priestess attire. The girl compliments the job they did, saying that Sugawara would be pleased as well.

BUT THEN SUDDENLY! A dark aura erupts from the grave! And a pendant Kurow has starts glowing brightly in response, for some reason. The girl realizes that it's the demon who possessed Sugawara, and it reveals itself to be a dark shadow eye thing with a mouth for eyelids, claiming ownership over everything. Kurow, trying to keep his cool, pulls out his flute as though to defend everyone with it.

The demon introduces himself as Akuro, heir to the throne of darkness. His very aura causes an earthquake, and in a display of his power, he creates a shadow orb that fires toward the Ruins and completely obliterates them. Boom! Gone! And guess what - Akuro's not even at full strength, much as Kurow comments that he's got enough power as it is.

The puppy leaps at Akuro in order to try to fight him, but all his white sparks do nothing, and Akuro casts him aside, saying he's not ready, and that darkness will consume the world no matter how much everyone resists. The same darkness that the girl knows from when King Fury consumed her, which is a very scary thing. Akuro claims that he will make a new world for Yami (a name Scholar knows), but claims that first he must have words with Orochi before he meets his end.

Akuro then disappears into a shadowy portal, getting away despite the puppy's attempt to follow. And as soon as he's gone, both Kurow and the girl collapse out of terror. Akuro's the scariest thing either of them has ever seen. But they catch themselves soon enough, and the girl questions how Akuro can meet Orochi. After all, Amaterasu killed Orochi nearly a year ago. Kurow figures Akuro must have the power to travel to the past. Naturally they need to follow him, but how do you turn back time...?

Deciding that there's nothing they can do, the four of them then return to the city.

What He Learns
☽ There's a guy named Sugawara who he knew. He's dead at this point. At some point, he was also possessed by a demon, one that's definitely connected to Akuro (though probably not actually Akuro) and possibly connected to this King Fury that was mentioned.
☽ There's a scholarly lady who he knows.
☽ There's a priestess girl who he knows, and who also knows the puppy.
☽ He had a pendant that was sort of shaped like a bird holding the moon in its beak. It had some sort of magical properties of one kind or another. Definitely responded to Akuro.
☽ AKURO IS FREAKIN' TERRIFYING. And he's not even at full strength!!!
☽ Also Akuro can probably travel through time.
☽ Orochi had some connection to Akuro - was he another demon? Either way, someone named Amaterasu killed him a year ago.
☽ Akuro called the puppy the Child of the Sun. Again with that.
☽ Has it been mentioned yet that Akuro is FREAKIN' TERRIFYING?? Because he is.

Notes
Up to this point in Okamiden, sure bad things had happened to Kurow, but there had always been confidence that they could be overcome. The Witch Queen is scary when she's angry? Well, there's really no need to beat her, she's just running an underground market and generally not a threat to the world, so all that needs to be done is to run away. (Not that he's remembered this part yet, but) King Fury managed to activate Daidarabotchi despite their best efforts? They've still got a few minutes before it reaches the surface; it's still possible to reprogram it. But Akuro is the final boss. Even at only partial strength, he's able to obliterate the entirety of the Ruins without blinking. And he can time travel, so if he does that and can get what he wants by doing that without anyone following, everyone's screwed, and nobody can do anything to stop him. That is what is so terrifying and horrible about this memory: Akuro is an evil that cannot be stopped.

(Of course, the memory that would follow this chronologically provides a spark of hope in terms of that, but.)

So yeah, crushing despair from a soul-crushing game. It's by no means his worst memory, but it's still pretty bad. Such wonderful timing on this one ^^; ...Though, then again, it could have various effects, depending on exact context of taking it...
